For first time students, I offer a one-time 20-30 min FREE lesson at the teacher's home/online. This session may include any consulting, materials, methods, discussions about previous music experiences, and hands-on music playing. This is a great way to get to know me and ask about any questions or uncertainties.
There will be a per visit surcharge of $15 if you would like me to teach in your home. The charge is per visit, meaning families with multiple children will pay only a single surcharge. This fee is to acknowledge teacher's travel time and commuting expenses. This service is offered depending on teacher's time and student's location.
Tina started playing the piano at age three and the flute at age eight. She graduated from University of Toronto in Flute Performance Major and studied with Nora Shulman (former TSO Flute Principal). Tina teaches private lessons on weekday evenings and on weekends.
Tina has entered and won many competitions and festivals (2010 – 1st Price, BC Provincial Festival (Intermediate Woodwinds); 2008-2010, placed in all classes at Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival (nine 1st Prizes, two 2nd Prizes, once 3rd Prize); 2005, placed 2nd in the National round of the Taiwan Music Competition; 2005, placed 1st overall at the municipal level of the Taiwan Music Competition.)
Tina enjoys playing a variety of pieces, from baroque music, classical music to contemporary music, using extended techniques. Besides playing the flute and piano, she also plays the piccolo and Chinese bamboo flute. Tina has been teaching for over ten years and is known for making lessons interesting and inspiring.
Tina also enjoys spending time with the little ones. She obtained her Early Childhood Education Diploma from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2019 and is currently a registered ECE in BC.
