Tina’s musical journey began at the age of three with piano and expanded to flute at eight. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Flute Performance and studied under Nora Shulman, former Principal Flute of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout her career, Tina has achieved remarkable success in competitions and festivals, including:
2010: 1st Prize, BC Provincial Festival (Intermediate Woodwinds)
2008-2010: Multiple wins at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival (nine 1st Prizes, two 2nd Prizes, one 3rd Prize)
2005: 1st place overall at the municipal level and 2nd place in the National round of the Taiwan Music Competition
Tina’s musical repertoire is as diverse as her talents, spanning baroque, classical, and contemporary pieces, often enriched with extended techniques. In addition to flute and piano, she also plays the piccolo and Chinese bamboo flute. With over a decade of teaching experience, Tina is celebrated for her ability to make lessons both engaging and inspiring.
Tina’s passion for education extends beyond music to working with young children. She earned her Early Childhood Education Diploma from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2019 and is a registered ECE in Alberta. In 2024, she welcomed her firstborn into the world. Alongside teaching music, Tina runs a part-time day home, where she lovingly cares for her son and other little ones, creating a nurturing environment for early learning and development.
